The Unfortunate Epidemic of Fibroids

Today’s post is going to focus mostly on Fibroids. Now more than ever before, more people are experiencing problems like fibroids, PCOS and associated infertility. There really were times when their occurrences were few and far in between.

Simply put, fibroid is a case of tissue growing in growing in an abnormal location. The cause of fibroid is not completely known. There are different opinions as to what causes it. However, many holistic fertility therapists (including me) believe that it is as a result of some form of hormonal imbalance.

Unfortunately for us, in recent times, there are many things that have caused hormone overload. They range from the use of synthetic products, foods, lotions, cosmetics and even the use of artificial contraception. That’s right! Sometimes, we ourselves actually consume these hormones to suppress conception but the body is not quite happy on the long run.

Many of the things we consume contain chemicals that mimic of the most important hormones in the body which is oestrogen. When we consume these chemicals, our body thinks that they are oestrogen and start to use them. The overload of oestrogen in our body gives rise to some problems like fibroids and even other diseases such as cancer.

This is supported by two reasons, fibroid cases have increased drastically since a lot of agricultural produce and other consumer products are being treated with artificial hormones and chemicals. The second reason is that many times, people with fibroid also have some form of hormonal imbalance. This is why when someone comes to me with fibroid and says she can’t conceive, I carry out a detailed assessment because it is very possible that there is hormonal imbalance and fibroids is just one of the visible symptoms. This is why if you have this hormonal imbalance or continue to do the same thing you used to do, it is possible for fibroid to grow back after surgery. It is like cutting grass but not solving the root problem, the grass might grow back.

See my next article for symptoms of fibroids. Until then stay blessed.
